史上初の「デュアル開会式」と開会式会場のプール化
2028年ロサンゼルス大会の開会式と閉会式は、オリンピック史上類を見ないデュアルスタジアム方式（2会場共同開催）で行われます。

3万8000人を収容する「五輪史上最大の競泳会場」
SoFiスタジアムは本来、NFL規格の巨大フットボールスタジアムです。
しかし、2028年ロサンゼルス大会では、このスタジアムが、一時的に世界最大の屋内競泳会場に変わります。
当初の計画では、大学の野球場に仮設プールを設置する予定でした（1万7500人収容可能）。しかし、SoFiスタジアムに会場を移すことで、収容観客数は3万8000人と飛躍的に拡大します。公的資金に頼らないこの大会では、チケット収入の極大化が至上命題であり、この変更はその要請にも応えるものです。
この前代未聞のプロジェクトを技術面で支えるのが、イタリアのプール製造大手Myrtha Pools社です。
高品質なステンレスパネルをボルトで組み上げ、水面付近の有害ガスを微細孔パイプで吸収・排出する革新的な換気システム「MyrthaBreathe」を導入することで、巨大な空調設備に頼らずとも屋内スタジアムで最適な水質と空気環境を維持します。
大会終了後、この仮設プールは完全に解体され、地域のコミュニティ施設などに移設・再利用される予定であり、材料の廃棄を極限まで抑えるサステナビリティにも対応しています。
「100％民間資金」で「新設ゼロ」が実現
SoFiスタジアムの最大の特徴は、5000億円を超える建設費に、地方自治体からの直接的な建設費補助や税金投入が一切なく、「100%民間資金」で建設されていることです。
NFLロサンゼルス・ラムズのオーナーである不動産王、スタン・クロンケ氏の自己資本や融資によって賄われています。
なぜ、これほどの巨額投資が民間だけで可能だったのか？
それは、スタジアム単体で利益を回収するのではなく、約300エーカー（約120ヘクタール）に及ぶ旧ハリウッドパーク競馬場跡地全体の再開発の中核として位置づけられているからです。
スタジアムの周辺に数千戸の住宅、広大な商業施設、ホテルなどを一体開発し、メガイベントを誘致し続けることで、周辺エリア全体の不動産価値を上げていく予定です。
このため、2028年ロサンゼルス大会は、「急進的な再利用」（恒久的な新設会場を一切建設しない）という歴史的公約を実現できる見通しです。これまでのように五輪のために都市を大改造するのではなく、日常的に使われているインフラに五輪を組み込むことで、白い巨象から訣別しようとしているのです。

インフィニティ・スクリーンが創る「ハリウッド基準」の観戦体験
スタジアムに入場した観客を最初に圧倒するのは、フィールドの真上に浮かぶサムスン電子製の「インフィニティ・スクリーン」です。面積約6500平方メートル、およそ8000万ピクセルを備えた史上最大の巨大両面4K LEDディスプレイは、スタジアムのすべての席に高精細な映像を提供します。
このスクリーンはAR（拡張現実）技術とも連動しており、スマホのカメラを通して見ると、空間上に3Dのデジタルエフェクトやデータが浮かび上がる没入型体験が可能となっています。競泳競技において、水面の激しいレース展開に加え、選手のリアルタイムのラップタイムや世界記録のラインが空間全体に重畳表示される新しい次元の熱狂が期待されます。
「快適」と「自然」が共存するスタジアム
また、スタジアムの屋根には「ETFE」という透明な特殊フィルムでできたパネルが使われています。自然光を透過させながら紫外線と直射日光の熱をカットし、開閉パネルを通じて太平洋の海風を自然に取り込むことで、屋外の開放感と屋内の快適性を両立した革新的な設計となっています。
